Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Coordinator is responsible for supporting the accounts receivable, payroll and other accounting functions at Compass.

DUTIES:

  • Payroll preparation and administration, including:
    • completion of ROEs
    • preparing T4s
    • reconciling, and remitting payroll liabilities
    • posting payroll journal entries
    • reconciling payroll and employee benefits general ledger accounts
  • Managing accounts receivable functions, including:
    • preparing invoices
    • depositing and posting cash receipts
    • reconciling the accounts receivable sub ledger
    • follow up to ensure collection of past due receivables  
  • Preparing and posting bank transactions and reconciliations, downloading bank statements and reports  
  • Manage corporate credit card program including issuance of cards, processing credit limit changes, managing email alerts and downloading statements and reports
  • Assisting with the annual audit including preparing supporting documents and responding to inquiries
  • Providing other accounting support as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University or College Diploma in business accounting or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting functions as well as payroll and employee benefits
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to assess priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience with Excel and a variety of computer software, experience with Sage 300 considered an asset
  • Possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license and the availability of an automobile in good working condition
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, French is an asset
  • CPA designation considered an asset
