The Engagement Specialist is responsible for the planning development, implementation and evaluation of activities and initiatives relating to youth, family, staff and community engagement.  They promote cooperative planning and decision-making with other staff teams/groups across the Agency and community. 

DUTIES:

  • Co-develop and maintain youth, family, community and staff engagement frameworks
  • Represent the agency through community booths and presentations
  • Lead the planning of key events such as but not limited to Child and Youth Mental Health Week
  • Promote positive professional relationships with internal staff, community partners, government ministries and agencies.
  • Support the organizational social media strategy
  • Considers legal, ethical and political ramifications in decision-making that may affect Agency and its specific programs
  • Coordinates assigned projects by using effective project management principles and tools
  • Provide expertise in the implementation and monitoring of the Agency’s visual identity and brand standards to ensure consistency and increase awareness and credibility of the Agency.
  • Lead and chair internal and external committees, task groups and working groups related to engagement as required.
  • Collaborate with team members on other communications and fundraising initiatives as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree in Political or Social Sciences, Community Development, Health Services, Public Relations, Communications or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience that includes expertise in community engagement.
  • Oral and written proficiency in the English and French languages is required.
  • Knowledge of children’s mental health and other social and health services.
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical, negotiating and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in community-based programs with a clear understanding of both urban and rural issues and communities.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience facilitating training, workshops, focus groups, committees, and/or working groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other experienced professionals including school boards, colleagues of other health and social service agencies, local politicians, etc.
  • Evidence of a genuine sensitivity to and demonstrated knowledge of linguistic and cross-cultural issues and their impact on the delivery of mental health services.
  • Ability to work in a computerized environment and experience with the use of a variety of software: Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro).
  • Experience utilizing social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license and the availability of an automobile in good working condition.
  • MUST provide a satisfactory police vulnerable sector check.
