The Human Resources Intern will assist in the administration and research of best practices in the field of Human Resources (HR) as they relate primarily to labour relations, compensation, disability management and recruitment.
DUTIES:
- Assist in the research, development, and implementation of policies and procedures based on HR best practices.
- Assist in the development of Standards of Work (SoW), process mapping, and reference manuals for various HR related processes.
- Review recruitment documentation, and prepare corresponding letters for employees and managers, if/as needed.
- Assist with employment legislation and case law research as required.
- Data entry, as well as compile and analyze data as required.
- Assist in the development of organizational charts, forms, and reports, if/as needed.
- Assist in the creation and revision of job descriptions.
- Gather and compile documents, and assist in the completion of various surveys.
- Compose and type confidential correspondence.
- Complete various ad hoc projects within various HR related subjects and systems.
- Determine and align improvement projects with the Agency’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
- Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
- Participate on various committees and in meetings as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a two (2) year Diploma in a Business or Human Resources Management field, from an accredited college.
- Must be working in the HR field for the first time.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must be working towards or has a current Certificate as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP).
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check required.
This position is funded by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) and as a requirement, applicants must either be a new entrant into the workforce, transitioning to a new career, or unemployed or underemployed and entering a new field, as well as,
- not previously participated in NOHFC’s People & Talent Program,
- be at least 18 years of age, and
- reside in Northern Ontario
